Thanksgiving is my favourite time of the year. At this time family and friends gather to enjoy each other's company, the changing colours of the leaves, the musky smell of the fresh fall air, sweet pumpkin candles, and apple pies baking in the oven. However, thankfulness is an attribute I daily practice.

But the question arises, which blessing am I most grateful for? I am most grateful for the air I breathe through my lungs, the beauty I see with two eyes, and the journeys I choose to take on my two feet. However, the blessing I hold dearest to my heart is my family.

In my family I am blessed with three brothers, two sisters, a loving mother and father, a wise grandmother, many extended aunts, uncles, and cousins, not to forget the friends I consider family.

Jacqueline's family
Life would be dull and boring without the succinct comments and jokes from my middle brother, or the hilarious mixture of everyone’s quirky sense of humour. The soft kind words spoken wisely by my grandmother or the strength I admire in my mother. Her courage and determination are what inspire me to continue no matter how tough the going might get. My father through his loving support, hard-earned knowledge and experience has influenced the work ethic I continue to develop. I am so grateful to have two older siblings to turn to for advice, as I am proud of them and their accomplishments. My little brother is so kind-hearted and selfless, while my little sister, a fireball, is never afraid to stand up for her beliefs or speak the truth.

My family is a masterpiece that continues to grow and expand as my brother recently married. My family loves me despite the disagreements that arise- we understand each other and see through the “painted” smile. There are irreplaceable smiles, laughter, and eternal love between us. My greatest blessing will always be my family.
