WILMINGTON, DE--(Jul 3, 2012) - Sarah Baker Andrus, Director of External Relations and Academic Programs for Vector Marketing Corporation, the direct sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation, was presented the Circle of Honor Award from the Direct Selling Education Foundation (DSEF). Andrus received the award on June 5th, 2012 at the Direct Selling Association's annual meeting in Grapevine, Texas. The award was presented by John Fleming, a long-time colleague and publisher of Direct Selling News. The DSEF is the educational branch of the Direct Selling Association. Its mission is to engage and educate the public on the ways direct selling empowers individuals, supports communities and strengthens economies worldwide.
The Direct Selling Education Foundation's Circle of Honor reads like a Who's Who of the direct selling industry. Created in 1988, the Circle of Honor recognizes industry leaders, academics, and consumer advocates who made extraordinary contributions to the foundation through personal efforts, involvement, and commitment to the mission and purpose of DSEF.
Recipients show outstanding service to DSEF through personal participation or substantial contributions, are involved in DSEF activities, and hold respectable stature within the foundation and its constituencies. No candidate will be considered posthumously.
The DSEF Board of Directors' Executive Committee selects Circle of Honor recipients.
"DSEF's Circle of Honor award is the Foundation's highest honor, and few have earned it more than Sarah Baker Andrus," says Charlie Orr, DSEF Executive Director. "Sarah has generously given her time and talent to the Foundation for more than a decade, serving on our board, chairing committees, and speaking on behalf of DSEF on many occasions. She is passionate about the direct selling industry and is an advocate for what the direct selling business model can do to change lives -- especially the lives of young people."
Andrus holds a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree from the University of Maryland. As Vector Marketing's Director of External Relations and Academic Programs, she leads Vector's external relations and outreach to the academic community, manages the company's brand and public image, and serves as a corporate spokesperson to the media. Since Vector's sales force is primarily made up of college students, Andrus' role is to ensure the best recruiting climate for the business. She has a special interest in career choices, job search strategies and staff development, and has written and spoken extensively on these issues.
"Receiving this award, and to share it with such a distinguished group of industry leaders, is humbling and remarkable to me. I am truly honored. In my work I've seen how sales experience can be transformative and lead to both personal and professional growth. The beauty of direct selling is that the opportunity is there for everyone, regardless of their background, education or previous experience. It's been a privilege to serve the DSEF, and something that would not have been possible without the support of Vector Marketing," said Andrus.
