To me, our 150th celebration is an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect and to be grateful to live in such an incredible country as Canada.

When I think about our country I think of its beauty. I’m fortunate to have travelled and visited many amazing places from coast to coast. I have hiked part of the Juan de Fuca trails on Vancouver Island, taking in the rainforest and gorgeous beaches; I’ve chased icebergs up and down the small coastal towns of Newfoundland, and explored so many beautiful places in between- our country is stunning.

When I think about Canadians, I take pride in that fact that we’re recognized across the globe as being “so nice”. I like that we apologize and I love that we’re accepting, inclusive, open-minded and that we aren’t all the same.

And finally, when I think about Canada, I’m grateful for the opportunity that being Canadian provides- the opportunity to freely chase our dreams, whatever they may be.

It is easy to take for granted the beauty, the people and the endless opportunity that make up Canada, so I plan on reflecting on each of these as we celebrate Canada's sesquicentennial anniversary this year!
